WELCOME TO THE QUAD

September 2025 Edition

Our Mission

Dear Parents and guardians of the QUAD,

We are thrilled to share with you our inaugural newsletter for our beautiful new school - the QUAD! Where one student said “Everyone here has a chance to make it in life”

Students of the QUAD are driven and excited to get into their passion and pathway with the knowledge that they will graduate with their skills. Students know we are a hub - This is a community of hopes and dreams!

The mission of the QUAD is to prepare students to become community leaders, productive members of society, and lifelong learners through effective communication and collaboration, and through fostering a positive post-secondary culture and engaged community.

quad community

“This new environment gives you something to look forward to, it is an honor to be apart of this new learning experience”

"I like the quad, it’s chill…it's a better environment for me."

"I like how it feels like a college campus and it's pretty peaceful."

Student-Driven Initiatives for a Stronger Community

We are excited to share an update on the initiatives being developed at the QUAD based on feedback from our students. Our staff is working to build a more collaborative and engaging environment by focusing on four key areas: Collaboration, Communication, Community, and Culture where we will be offering student-led programs and initiatives to provide meaningful learning opportunities aligned to the skills employers are looking for in today's employment candidates.

Our Goals

Using the student survey results, our amazing staff team developed working groups and goals around the student's interests and needs. We will now be "hiring" our pathway student ambassadors to lead student teams in this work!

MONTHLY EMPLOYABILITY COMPETENCY FOCUS

SEPT EMPL POSTERS
september employment skills

Another thing that makes life at the QUAD a little different is the focus on IL employability standards. These are the soft skills that top hiring managers in Illinois are looking for in employees!

Our Graphic Design students are making posters for these focus areas each month! Pictured above is a poster made by Guilford senior, Jamie Bunnell.

STUDENT LEADERS

Student ambassadors from Auburn High School and the QUAD joined over 20 new Career Technical Education (CTE) educators on September 9th to share tips with new teachers on how to build relationships with today's students.

The teachers reported the student session to be among the most valuable sessions of the day!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Families,

At The Quad, our goal is to provide students from across the city with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive in spaces that have been thoughtfully designed with their futures in mind. Our beautiful new building reflects this vision, offering an atmosphere that mirrors the feel of a junior college while remaining deeply student-centered. Students are enjoying the many collaborative spaces and flexible seating options that encourage them to work together, share ideas, and take ownership of their learning experience.

One of the greatest strengths of The Quad is the way it brings together students from Auburn, East, Guilford, and Jefferson. Here, young people are forming new friendships, building connections, and creating bonds that will last a lifetime. Their voices matter, and student feedback is already shaping school decisions and the culture of our community. We are proud to say that everything we do is for the students—and with the students—at the center.

While a small portion of the building, including the culinary labs and commons, is still under construction, these spaces will be completed by mid-October and will add even more opportunities for collaboration and growth. In the meantime, our focus remains clear: creating an environment where students feel valued, supported, and inspired to pursue their goals.

We are here for the students and for the community, and we welcome your feedback as we work together to give our students the best possible start to their futures.

Sincerely,

John Cusimano
